About Us

Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems (TBHS) is a governmental Michigan Community Mental Health Authority established in 1974 to manage public mental health services in Tuscola County. TBHS is under contract with and funded in part by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, as well as Tuscola County.

Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems is a partner in the Mid-State Health Network (MSHN) joining Bay-Arenac Behavioral Health, Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health, Community Mental Health for Central Michigan, Gratiot Integrated Health Network, Huron Behavioral Health, Lifeways Community Mental Health, Montcalm Care Network, Newaygo County Mental Health Center, Saginaw County Community Mental Health, Shiawassee County Community Mental Health Authority, and The Right Door (formally Ionia County Community Mental Health).

This affiliation is dedicated to excellence in behavioral healthcare. TBHS is a public authority with jurisdiction to provide behavioral health services to the residents of Tuscola County.

Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems is a CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited agency. CARF is an independent, non-profit organization that requires organizations they survey to meet rigorous standards before it grants them accreditation. The CARF surveyors reviewed areas in which TBHS has strengths and areas in which TBHS "demonstrates exemplary conformance to standards". Who We Serve

Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems provides a variety of services and supports to adults, children, and families who meet the required eligibility criteria of a mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.

Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems staff members provide care in a confidential environment empowering individual to reach their full potential.
